In 1966 I fell in love with the Drama of the Troc. Five of my family went in after a wedding and just wanted to order starters but the Frank the infamous waiter wasn't having it and ordered us out. It wouldn't happen these days - the only people doing the ordering are the customers. I have never felt like the owner of the Troc. I feel like the caretaker and I'll be doing my best to make sure it improves on my watch. I really hope The Troc remains a vibrant and cherished part of Dublin life into a long future as a younger generation calls it their own.

Rhona Teehan, Owner

The Troc is made up of five dining areas from two adjoining Georgian houses:- The front room, the original and favorite area with many of our regular diners, The Run, because there was always a waiter running by from the front to the kitchen, No joking, originally no smoking but non smokers were deemed to be serious people hence the no joking title stuck, The Stage, it's a raised area and open on three sides so you have views of the other diners, and then of course The Bar where people gather in front of the fireplace. If you've always felt destined for 'The Stage' let us know in advance it's a popular spot.

Over the years we have had many family pairs working in the Troc. Robert's sister Liz has been a chef for over twenty years. Patricia's husband Alan has worked as a chef since the early nineties. Sisters Jackie and Clare have both been with us over twenty years. I don't believe anyone arrived to work in

the Troc for a long career but they became part of a working family and everyone loved Robert. An amazing staff of forty works in the Troc altogether. We open at five so the day crew never sees the fruit of their efforts. Mary has been cleaning and polishing for many years. Besides presenting the Troc in all its

shiny glory she has found many pieces of precious jewelry, rings, earrings, bracelets, watches and also glasses, phones and even wallets. When the grateful owners come to retrieve their cherished belongings she is not even there to witness their happy faces.
