Food at The Troc is simple and by simple we mean served without pretension There's everything you'd expect to find in a fine pre-theatre restaurant - favourites such as steak and chips. Traditional cooking made with the very best Irish ingredients. All the ingredients are sourced and bought locally.
The lack of pretension in our food carries through to our choice of wine. If Rhona finds a great wine on her travels she comes back raving about it and we find it and stock it. Our wine list contains some very good and very reasonably priced gems.
The recently revamped bar at The Troc is a great place to start or end an evening. The long bar is a taste of art deco and our cocktail list is fantastic. We have a core of people who just drop in for a drink when they are not dining. It's fun because Dubliners walk in the door and start talking to you like they have known you for years. If you are in town for the weekend and haven't managed to get a reservation please feel welcome to drop in, have a look and stay for a drink.

Hear what a few of our most famous and infamous guests have said about 'The Troc'.
"Trocadero, is the sort of place that
improves with time, both as the years
go by and the evening wears on."
Irish Times Magazine
"Those Tony Bennett tunes and actors'
headshots which line the walls of this
showbiz fav' lend it a timeless twang"
The Dubliner 100 Best Restaurants
"Old school eating, great steaks and
pate with a great atmosphere"
TripAdvisor Contributor
It is a regular haunt for
thespians and beautiful people,
not to mention lots of very famous
faces. Excellent food and a fantastic
atmosphere, it's the culinary cream
of south Dublin"
Metro Scrore: 9/10
"Trocadero has that feeling of
blissful cosiness, a sense that
everything is right with the world"
Diarmuid Doyle, Sunday Tribune
"Running the show with famous flair,
Robert Doggett, will always ensure you
have rip roaring night. Just make sure you
make no plans to go on afterwards - you
will find it very hard to leave"
Food and Wine Magazine: Hot 100
"I was very young when I first
encountered The Trocadero I’d say
about 19 or 20. Everyone went there
after first nights - maybe first to a bar,
and then adjourn to the Troc."
Frank Kelly
"I will always remember The Troc
for their loyalty. They gave me a
little party when I won the Oscar.
Should my last supper be at The Troc,
I'd like it to start with a tabletop
dance with Robert and Frank!"
Brenda Fricker
"The Trocadero's Dublin Bay Sole is
probably the best in the world, and is the
best in the Trocader when I can persuade
the chef not to include onions."
Ulick O'Connor
"Roberts welcome at the Troc is truely
something unique, as is the atmosphere.
It conjures up the feeling that you have all
the time in the world to relax - which I
love to do with a bellini and their heavenly
roast breast of barberry duck."
Deidre Donnelly
"After a show, there's nothing nicer than
hooking up with a few friends and
heading to the Troc, where you're bound
to bump into a few more pals."
Marion O'dwyer
"Fantastic steaks. Great service.
Fabulous red velvet Decor."
TripAdvisor
"Robert Doggett is The Troc for me,
and the singular kindness of all
the staff. There is no better way of
unwinding than with a bottle of wine,
but if I were only to eat one more meal,
I would have to revisit that steak and
kidney pie."
Tom Murphy
"The Troc is the real deal - it looks great,
it serves great food and drink, but what
makes it a true theatre restaurant is that it
stays open late enough to accomodate
theatre people who get out of work well
past sociable hour."
Peter Hanly
"I always loved the fact that the waiters in
The Troc treat you so well, even if you're a
'nobody" - and now i'm supposed to be
a somebody' they still treat me the same."
John O'conor
"My first memory of The Troc is from the
1970's when it was far lest salubrious than
it is today. Since then the room may have
changed for the better, but the welcome
could never be improved upon."
Kate O'Toole
"I am fortunate to have made many
good friends in the theatre and get
great satisfaction out of seeing their
photographs all around The Trocadero.
It becomes like another homeplace."
Phyllis Ryan
